We have a very special display currently going on in the East Gallery window at the Marshall County Art Guild for the next two months. This is our student showcase exhibit with the work from our most senior students ranging from 1.5-3.5 years of sewing lessons. It's very difficult to get good pictures without the reflection in the glass, so we highly recommend you visit in person. Please sign the gallery's guest book if you stop by during open hours, or leave an encouraging comment here for these young artists! They are very excited ❤️ 🪡 🧵 ✂️

This Patriotic Santa commission turned out so fun! This costume was made from a blue cotton velvet and a vintage poly/cotton jacquard lining for the coat, a striped lightweight cotton canvas for the pants, and a super soft faux rabbit fur. The two hats were furnished with a clasp and ring on each pom-pom so that they could be interchangeable. The patch pockets double as belt loops in the front to help support Santa's belt. In total, there were 468 stars embroidered on the entire outfit (including the hats), and total construction was approximately 128 hours. If you have been following along in our stories, you will already know that I am on a journey to make my own version of Daryl's Wings from The Walking Dead. I wanted to hand embroider them in a more realistic style onto the back of a jacket instead of a leather vest. The jacket will borrow elements from motorcycle jackets while still keeping the shape of my favorite coat pattern.

Happy Memorial Monday! Today rounds out the last of our Renaissance Faire commissions. Jack Sparrow () has been attending the Tennessee Renaissance Festival for years. Two years ago he started updating his wardrobe by commissioning more screen accurate pieces from us. He started with the vest and pants and this year he updated with a new shirt. Buying a piece at a time is one of the ways our clients can get a custom costume more sustainably.
