In 2019 County Executive Laura Curran evicted ICE from our Nassai jail, which impeded their ability to properly enforce Federal law. I lead the charge demanding she put ICE back in the jail and they are still present today enforcing our immigration laws!

I applaud the Trump administrations bipartisan Laken Riley Act which will mandate Federal detention of illegal immigrants who are accused of theft, burglary, assaulting a law enforcement officer, and any crime that causes death or serious bodily injury.

I thank County Execitive Blakeman and my colleagues in the majority for ensuring that Nassau is not a sanctuary county.
