For as long as I can remember, I have always loved a good story, especially retelling it myself. I can be very dramatic! Maybe it is the former cheerleader in me! After 30 years in an educational career, I retired with dreams of becoming a YouTube star as my husband and I traveled the country in our RV. We camped for a few months and I tried to make videos but it was hard to travel and enjoy it and record video at the same time. Circumstances changed and we found ourselves at home. One Saturday afternoon in late April I went to my sister-in-law’s house to see my nephews off for their senior prom. At the last minute, I grabbed my camera gear and took video clips (as well as the picture above). I went home that night and put together a video that literally brought tears to my eyes! It was awesome to capture those smiles and giggles and twirls and hugs. I thought about how precious this video would become as my nephews graduated and went on with their lives. I cautiously uploaded the video to my YouTube channel I had for traveling and got rave reviews from the moms of the kids there that day! One of the moms asked if I would make a video of the moms handing out donuts on the last day of school. I was flattered and decided I would. That video ended up getting over 1,000 views! I was hooked! I realized I loved telling other people’s stories. The next step was a biggie - recording a wedding from start to finish! Thankfully I knew someone getting married that didn’t have the budget for a video. I asked if I could try at no cost. I loved every minute of it and when they watched the video after the wedding and tears flowed, again I knew I was hooked. I decided to take the leap and create Michele Hedges Videography. But I was adamant that I would not charge the huge amounts other videographers were charging. This would be my way of giving back to the world. Since then I have created videos of baby gender reveals, birthday parties, first day of school, more weddings, etc. Every event tells a different story. And I love telling that story for you through video!
