Had a great weekend at the clay county strawberry festival! My daughter came up with some creative ideas repurposing wood and building herself, into shelf houses that can stand alone or be hung on the wall.

🌱 PLANT TIP ::

Two common misconceptions about poinsettias are; they like a cold climate and are poisonous. In actuality they were discovered by the Aztecs in Mexico who used the plant for a variety of uses such as reducing headaches. They don’t like being in temperatures below 40 degrees, prefer their soil to be evenly damp but never soggy or sitting in water. Keep away from drafts and hate it when inside a room with the heating system consistently running. Besides throwing them out or hopefully added to a compost pile after the holidays, they can regrow when planted outside in a protected place such as beside a big tree or foundation.

🌱PLANT TIP ::

The Christmas Cactus;
people tend to kill them with kindness, giving them too much water will promote root rot. So only water when the soil is dry on top.
Place them in a window or porch that at least gets indirect light. Fertilize lightly during months when cactus is not flowering.
If the plant is growing well but doesn’t bloom during the winter months, move to a darker location for a month to two, then move back to the original location.
