To efficiently transport my faux floral arrangements to weddings and events, I use stackable plastic containers to store each arrangement.

For setups and removal at the end of each event, I use a dolly that holds up to 18 containers at once, which reduces the number of trips I have to take back and forth to the vehicle.

Here’s how to make broken arch floral pillars that are wind-proof and more stable for outdoor events.

Once the foam cage is attached with hooks onto the frame, I use an 18 inch zip tie and feed this through the top of the floral foam cage under the grid and secure it.

For outdoor events, I highly recommend adding the zip tie. If the wind picks up, it ensures the cages remain securely in place and the design stays intact.

If you’re looking for an easy DIY floral decor project, here’s how to make faux floral pillars, also known as a broken arch.

These are great to use as ceremony altar decor and they can quickly be repurposed at the reception as a guest photo op, entrance decor, or framing the sweetheart table.

Floral pillars are easier to transport and setup compared to a full size flower arch, so these are ideal for DIY wedding decor.

Supply & cost breakdown ⬇️

To make these DIY pedestal stands, these are the supplies I used:

Lumber: 3 foot x 12 inch x 3/4 inch pine boards | 9 total - each pedestal requires 4 panels for the sides and 1 panel will be cut into two pieces that are 12 inches x 13.5 inches each to fit the top.

Wood screws: at least 1.25” length, but I use 1.5” length

Wood glue

Wood filler

Sanding block

White matte acrylic paint

Total price that I paid for supplies, including sales tax:

Wood Boards: $8.76 x 9 = $78.81
Screws (50-pack): $7.45
Paint (64 oz jug): $18.41
Wood Filler: $7.56
Wood Glue: $4.31
Sanding Block (2-pack): $6.48
Paint Roller + Tray: $7.56

Make this faux floral hydrangea centerpiece in less than 10 minutes.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by your DIY wedding flowers, try creating a simple design like this.

This artificial hydrangea centerpiece only requires three types of stems and it only takes about 10 minutes to assemble.

For my mechanics, I created a simple tape grid using 1/4 inch wide floral tape.

For my artificial flowers, I used three deep blue hydrangeas, three lighter blue hydrangeas, and some blue baby’s breath.

Create a DIY bridal bouquet using a simple floral egg cage made using coated chicken wire.

For this design, I used the following affordable artificial flowers and supplies.

2 stems of pink ranunculus with 4 blooms per stem
6 stems of pink roses
6 stems of coral / peach roses
8 pink peony blooms
6 light pink mini ranunculus stems
6 pieces of pink baby’s breath

Additional Supplies
1 small piece of coated chicken wire
Diagonal pliers
Light pink chiffon ribbon - approx. 36 inches
