MALE, 25–30 yrs old, ANY ETHNICITY. (ACTOR MUST BE ABLE TO PLAY ACOUSTIC AND ELECTRIC GUITAR) Lead guitar player in a local band. Ray is talented, laid-back, and deeply rooted in the band’s original bluegrass sound. He’s resistant to change and frequently clashes with Cory, the drummer, who wants to push the band in a new direction. Though easygoing on the surface, Ray stands firm in his beliefs and ultimately quits the band when tensions boil over—setting off a chain of events that leads to Abby stepping in. STORYLINE:
ABILENE IS A GROUNDED, CHARACTER-DRIVEN, DRAMA SET IN THE HEART OF RURAL OHIO, WHERE THE RHYTHMS OF FARM LIFE MIRROR THE HOPES AND HARDSHIPS OF PEOPLE WHO CALL THE AREA HOME.
When Abby Morgan — a gifted young singer running from a devastating past — arrives at the local cider mill in Fair Haven, Ohio looking for work, she is not searching for opportunity. She is searching for escape. Carrying the weight of a devastating loss and a silence she cannot break, Abby is a young woman who has walked away from the very thing that once defined her: music. What begins as a temporary stop becomes something more complicated. The Wagner family, struggling to keep their mill alive after the loss of their own patriarch, slowly draws her into their fragile orbit. In their unfinished conversations, strained loyalties, and quiet acts of resilience, Abby sees reflections of her own unspoken grief. Across the season, boundaries blur. Guarded hearts soften. Truths surface. Abbyʼs presence unsettles the town, but it also awakens it. Yet beyond Fair Haven, the life Abby left behind has not forgotten her — and the man who first discovered her voice is quietly searching for where she went.
