I was just thinking, if I were to sit my sons down to share some wisdom with them using the recent Shannon Sharpe ordeal as a backdrop, what would I say to them?

The Shannon Sharpe headlines? Real or not, the damage is real. But some, if not all of these types of situations can be avoided.

Here are five essential lessons that every man should consider leaning into:
1. Let your boundaries be louder than your urges.
Every man is tempted. But the disciplined man controls his temptations. Boundaries are protection, not punishment.

2. Access doesn’t mean alignment.
Just because someone is close doesn’t mean they’re safe. Not everyone who is smiling is sincere.

3. Guard your heart like your future depends on it, because it absolutely does.
What you let in emotionally will shape your choices. Choose peace over chaos.

4. Don’t trust your flesh with your future.
One moment of ego or loneliness can undo years of progress. Slow down.

5. Protect your peace before you pursue pleasure.
Pleasure fades. But peace—that’s what keeps you steady when storms come.

You’re not just living for now, you’re living for your name, your legacy, and those who come after you.
