THIS moment.

The vows are done. The rings are on. I get the heck out of the way 😂 and for the first time you get to kiss each other as HUSBAND + WIFE.

And then comes my favorite part… that little OMG WE JUST DID THAT!!! moment right after.

This is why I love elopements so damn much. No performance. No pressure. Just two people completely wrapped up in each other, having one of the best days of their lives.

Give me this kind of wedding ALL. DAY. LONG. 🤍

There’s something really special about being around two people who are just SOOOOO excited to marry each other.

No big production. No worrying about what everyone else wants. No pressure to make the day look a certain way.

Just the two of them, standing there like… yep. This is exactly how we wanted to do this.

And as an officiant, you can FEEL that energy.

I get this little front-row seat to people choosing each other. I get to watch the nervous giggles, the way they look at each other, the little “holy crap, we’re actually getting married” moments 😂 and then that shift when everything settles and they’re just completely there with each other.

I swear, those are the moments where I’m standing off to the side thinking… how is this my job?!

Because yes, I’m there to marry you. I’m there to make everything official. But getting to be part of something this personal, especially when it’s literally just the three of us out there, is something I’ll never take for granted.

And I think this is why I love elopements so much.

You get to strip away all the “supposed to’s” and just get married in a way that actually feels like you.

And when a couple does that?

Ohhhh, you can feel it. 🤍

Take the mental picture. 🤍

At the beginning of almost every ceremony, I can feel the nerves. The shaky hands. The little laughs. The holy crap, we’re actually doing this energy.

So we take a breath.

And then I want you to look at your person.

Like REALLY look at them.

Because truthfully? You might not hear half the words I’m saying. 😂 And that’s okay.

Look at their face.

Notice how they’re looking at you.

Feel their hands in yours.

Look around for a second.

Take that little snapshot in your head.

Because this is one of those moments you’re going to want to remember.

You don’t need to perform it.

You just need to be in it. 🤍

I KNOOOOOOW the reason I love officiating sooooooo much is because I get to stand in one of the realest moments of someone’s life.

And after doing this for 10 years, I’ve noticed something…

It’s the ones where you can actually feel the couple.

The nervous laugh when you’re trying not to cry.

The way you look at each other when nobody else is paying attention.

The inside joke that makes absolutely no sense to anyone else.

The shaky voice during your vows.

The moment you completely forget there are people watching you.

THAT is the good stuff.

I never want my couples standing up there worrying about what they’re supposed to do next or whether they’re “doing it right.”

I want you present, present, present!!!

I want you looking at each other.

I want you laughing if something goes sideways.

I want you to cry if you feel it.

I want you to forget about the timeline for a few damn minutes and realize…

Holy s**t. We’re getting married!!!

Because I’ve watched enough weddings to know how unbelievably fast this part goes.

Months — sometimes years — of planning, and then suddenly you’re standing there saying your vows…and twenty minutes later everyone is cheering and you’re married.

So if there’s one thing I want every couple I officiate to remember, it’s this:

Don’t perform your wedding. EXPERIENCE IT. Really Really be in it.

Your ceremony doesn’t need to sound like anyone else’s.

Your vows don’t need to be perfect.

You don’t need to hold it together.

Be weird. Be emotional. Laugh. Cry. Mess up your words. Kiss longer than you planned.

Just be you two.

My job is to handle the rest, guide you through it, calm the nerves, make you laugh when you need it, step out of the way when the moment belongs completely to you…and make sure that when you look back on your ceremony years from now, you don’t just remember what happened.

You remember how it felt.

And THAT is why I freaking love what I do. 🤍

15 years married and still choosing each other.

April + Jay came to Hawaiʻi and made space to celebrate the life, love, and memories they’ve built together over the last 15 years and THIS is why I freaking love vow renewals.

It doesn’t have to be elaborate. I

t can literally just be the two of you, somewhere beautiful, slowing down long enough to look at each other and say, “Yep. Still you.” ❤️❤️❤️❤️

And getting to capture their day cinematically so they can relive this chapter of their story?! My heart.

Sometimes the best wedding plan is… not having a huge wedding plan. 😂🤍

Just you, your person, a beautiful spot in Hawaiʻi, and a ceremony that actually feels like YOU.

No entertaining 100 people. No worrying about seating charts. No spending the whole day making sure everyone else is happy.

You get to slow down, soak it all in, and actually enjoy the fact that YOU’RE GETTING MARRIED. 🌺

If a big wedding is your dream, DO IT. But if your heart keeps telling you to run away to Hawaiʻi and elope?

Consider this your sign. ✈️🌴💍

They wanted simple. And I mean SIMPLE simple. 🤍

No guests. No photographer. No big vendor team. No timeline with 47 different things happening.

Just the two of them, sunrise m, and me there to marry them.

And because they didn’t have a photographer I was able to capture their ceremony and little moments throughout the morning for them too.

And can I just say… I freaking love this way of getting married.

There was nobody to entertain. Nobody to check on. Nobody asking where they needed to be next. They didn’t have to worry about whether everyone else was having a good time.

They literally just got to get married.

That’s it.

And I think sometimes couples need the reminder that your wedding is allowed to be this simple.

You don’t have to invite everyone.
You don’t have to do all the traditional things.
You don’t have to turn your wedding into a production if that’s not you.

Want to wake up before sunrise, throw on your wedding clothes, meet me at the beach and marry your person with nobody else around?

DO. IT. 😂👏🏼

Big wedding, tiny wedding, or literally just the two of you, choose the version that actually feels like you.

Because at the end of the day, you’re the ones getting married. 🤍
