I love it when the foliage doubles as filler: ninebark and mock orange combine with Itoh peonies in this week's bouquets to complement those gorgeous ranunculus. They've been hitting their stride but the heat last week was rough, and now the rain will likely bring mildew on already-stressed plants. If you're growing ranunculus this year and they're struggling, it's probably just because they're divas and hate our weather πŸ˜… but how can you not love them anyway?

Both the ranunculus & peony shares are sold out - thank you for your support! Can't wait to share these beauties with you this season!!

Today's bouquets feature peonies Red Charm and Soft Salmon Saucer, Icelandic poppies, Galilee anemone, several types of ranunculus, apple mint, and pennycress.

The ranunculus survived the storms thanks to some thick frost cloth from and will have a nice few days here to enjoy being uncovered.

If you're local, I have a few extra ranunculus ready to plant if you'd like to try growing these divas! Shoot me a message - most are Elegance varieties and should bloom the month of May.

(yes, these are spaced much closer than recommended. Yes, I can't help myself and try to grow way more than I should with the space I have. No, the poles and chicken wire don't hold the frost cloth down - they're to keep the chickens out πŸ™ƒ I just put the cloth over the raised beds and pin it down. But someday I'll have actual low tunnels!)
