Learn techniques such as hand stitching and sewing machines skills.

Welcome to Gowns by Karen Chow! In the next couple paragraphs, I’m introducing myself and why I do what I do!

I’ve been a dressmaker for 20 years now (see photo above). I started my business knowing that I could provide a service to women who love to create new styles or want to create a special gown that is made from their own mother’s dress. As well as, providing alterations to tweek what is already a great dress or change it to make it her own.

I have a Bachelors Degree in Graphic Design and consider myself a Fine Artist.
For me, putting together a dress or making alterations is about sculpting to the women’s body in the way that is flattering to her body type. Also, the thoughts and ideas of what the gown should look like to her.

My favorite aspects about my job is the interaction with people and creating pieces of artwork! Also, getting the woman’s vision for her perfect wedding gown and creating that. Lastly, I enjoy constructing the fabrics and laces together to make that speacial dress!

I have a passion for creating gowns that no one else has and is uniquely speacial to each bride!
