Her alluring and sophisticated evening wear collections have quickly earned her a prominent place in the industry, and she has carved out her own niche in Denver's fashion world. Gabriela's work has been recognized with numerous accolades, including being named the 2013 Denver Fashion Designer of the Year, the 2011 Denver Rising Fashion Star in the evening wear and special occasion category by Fashion Group International (FGI), and the 2010 FACE (Fashion and Creative Entrepreneur) Best Special Occasion Designer. Her award-winning designs are a testament to her skill, creativity, and dedication to her craft. ADSF Resident Alumni & current resident artist at 40 West Arts District, Sydnee Masias, is looking for artists to participate in the new show "Hats Off to Paper Fashion!"

In collaboration with PaperWorks, a 40 West Arts Gallery Exhibition and The One Club for Creativity Denver, artists of all levels and backgrounds are invited to showcase their creativity in a one-night-only celebration of innovation, imagination, and wearable art—made almost entirely from paper. This event highlights the limitless possibilities of paper fashion through the design and presentation of original, wearable paper hats/ headpieces.

There are moments when a needle, thread, and a piece of fabric can do more than therapy. For many of us, sewing isn’t just a craft it’s a passion, a way to express ourselves, and a sanctuary where we find peace and joy.

That happiness we feel when watching a garment take shape in our hands, when we hear the sewing machine humming in sync with our dreams it’s hard to explain… but it shows. If you see me sewing with a smile, there’s no need to ask why. Right there, surrounded by threads, patterns, and creativity, that’s where I’m truly myself.

Let me stay there where my soul vibrates, where my heart beats to the rhythm of the pedal, and where every stitch tells a piece of my story.

“Me rechazaron como patinadora olímpica… y terminé vistiendo a las novias más famosas del mundo.” ⛸️👰‍♀️

Desde niña soñé con el hielo. Pasaba horas entrenando para representar a Estados Unidos como patinadora artística. Pero a los 19, me dijeron que no era lo suficientemente buena. Esa frase me partió el alma. Había entrenado mi vida entera… y en un segundo, ese sueño se derrumbó. Me sentí perdida, sin rumbo, como si ya no tuviera identidad. Pero no me rendí. Me reinventé. ✂️🥶

Empecé desde abajo como editora asistente en Vogue. Trabajé 17 años en la revista, hasta que un día, con 40 años y sin experiencia como diseñadora, decidí crear mi primer vestido de novia. ¿La razón? No encontraba ninguno que me gustara para mí. Todos decían que estaba loca por empezar tan tarde… pero yo sabía que algo dentro de mí tenía que explotar. ✨👗

Con miedo, pero con visión, lancé mi primera colección. Al principio nadie creía en mí. Pero poco a poco, las novias comenzaron a enamorarse de mis diseños. Hoy he vestido a celebridades como Victoria Beckham, Ariana Grande y hasta a las Kardashian. Todo porque un día, alguien me rompió un sueño… y yo construí otro con mis propias manos. 💥💍

En la Casa Balenciaga, cada temporada comenzaba con un momento clave: la presentación de la colección en el salón de alta costura. Un ritual exclusivo que marcaba el paso del proceso creativo al ciclo comercial y productivo.

Solo se accedía por invitación. Allí se reunían clientas influyentes y cosmopolitas, junto a profesionales del sector -el verdadero motor económico de la maison- para descubrir las nuevas propuestas. La prensa especializada, por su parte, tenía la misión de trasladar esa experiencia única al gran público.
