Gummy Worm Dragon Roll Dessert Sushi
This playful dessert looks just like sushi but is made entirely from sweet treats. Soft fruit roll-ups wrap around sticky marshmallow rice cereal and colorful gummy worms, then the rolls are sliced and drizzled with cherry syrup to mimic sushi sauce. It’s a fun candy project that kids absolutely love helping make.
Ingredients
6 green fruit roll-up sheets
2 cups marshmallow rice cereal mixture (like rice crispy treat mixture)
12 neon sour gummy worms
1/4 cup cherry dessert syrup
1 teaspoon sesame seeds
Tools You’ll Need
Bamboo cutting board
Large chef’s knife
Mixing spoon or spatula
Parchment paper (optional)
Serving plate
Step 1: Prepare the Marshmallow Rice Mixture
If you don’t already have it prepared, make a simple marshmallow rice cereal mixture by melting 2 tablespoons butter with 2 cups mini marshmallows, then stirring in 2 cups crispy rice cereal.
Let it cool slightly so it’s still soft but easy to spread.
Step 2: Lay Out the Fruit Roll-Ups
Place a fruit roll-up sheet flat on a clean countertop or parchment paper.
Make sure the shiny side faces down so it doesn’t stick.
Step 3: Spread the Rice Layer
Scoop about 2–3 tablespoons of the marshmallow rice mixture onto the fruit roll-up.
Spread it into a thin layer, leaving about 1/2 inch border around the edges.
Step 4: Add the Gummy Worm Filling
Place two sour gummy worms lengthwise across the center of the rice layer.
This colorful filling will become the center of your dessert “sushi.”
Step 5: Roll the Dragon Roll
Starting from one edge, carefully roll the fruit roll-up tightly into a log shape, just like rolling sushi.
Press gently so the filling stays inside.
Step 6: Slice the Rolls
Place the roll onto a cutting board and use a sharp knife to slice it into about 6 bite-sized pieces.
You’ll see the spiral of green fruit roll-up, white rice mixture, and colorful gummy worms inside.
Step 7: Plate the Dessert Sushi
Arrange the slices in a slightly curved or wavy pattern on a plate to resemble a dragon roll.
Step 8: Add the “Sushi Sauce”
Drizzle the cherry dessert syrup across the rolls just like sushi eel sauce.
Step 9: Sprinkle the Sesame Seeds
Finish with a light sprinkle of sesame seeds over the top for a realistic sushi look.
Step 10: Serve
Serve immediately as a fun party dessert. They’re perfect for kids’ parties, themed desserts, or playful snack boards.
Storage
These are best eaten fresh the same day. If needed, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 day, but the fruit roll-ups may soften over time.
