When I updated my website this spring, I trimmed some questions from my contact page but could not bring myself to take out the ‘favorite road trip snack’ box. What if we worked together and never even discovered our shared love of gas station food?

There is no wrong answer, but there is a right answer: Handful of sweet. Handful of savory. Repeat.

I woke up to 13 degrees yesterday in Lake Placid, so in honor of these spring temps, a throwback to a fall wedding in the Adirondacks.

A & J planned a sunrise ceremony on for late September and to no one’s surprise, neither foliage nor the sun attended. Lucky for all of us, sideways snow/ice, relentless wind and view-less summits are kind of their thing.

They shared their vows in whiteout conditions with a couple of dear friends and their dog Crosby. At their feet was the collar of their late pup, Jackson, who spent many a sunrise and sunset on ADK trails (and non-trails!) too.

It was an honor to freeze my lashes alongside this crew. Scroll to the end for an icy lens/amongst the clouds before/after.

Later that day, a few thousand feet below on the west branch of the Ausable River at the , they welcomed the rest of their loved ones to celebrate.

Whoopsie, I went dark for a bit. Long story short I’ve been on YouTube trying to learn how to build a completely new website from scratch. Showit people, send help. I am one of those millennials who is bad at technology. It’s a work in progress. Better live than perfect?

The best part though, has been revisiting old work.

This intimate wedding is from 2021, post-Covid when we were all so grateful to be together again. Thunderstorms came and went all day and C & A were unbothered. They embraced the magic that is a summer storm at your childhood camp and the closeness of taking shelter on a porch with the people who you love.
