Happy Independence Day Eve! 🇺🇸
’Twas the night before Independence Day, and all through the land,
The grills were prepped, the flags were all planned.
The coolers were stocked with patriotic care,
In hopes that the morning would soon fill the air.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of fireworks danced in their heads.
And Mama in her stars, and I in my stripes,
Had just cracked a cold one, the calm before hype.
When out on the lawn there arose such a cheer,
I stumbled off the porch and grabbed my last beer.
Away to the driveway I flew like a flash,
Just in time to witness a shield-bearing dash.
The moonlight lit up the red, white, and blue,
And there stood a figure every patriot knew.
With a star on his chest and boots polished bright,
It was Captain America, bold in the night.
No sleigh and no reindeer—just a bike chrome and clean,
With a sidecar of gifts and American sheen.
He moved with precision, no moment was wasted,
And the scent of smoked brisket around him still tasted.
He carried small flags, little hats, and some cheer,
And handed out six-packs of ice-cold beer.
“To the veterans who served, and the folks keeping watch,
To the backyard chefs manning every cook spot.”
He saluted the sky and tipped his winged helm,
Like a guardian of freedom patrolling the realm.
Then he knelt for a second near the flag in our yard,
His hand to his heart—his respect hitting hard.
He said not a word, just worked with a grin,
Stuffing coolers with pride, and joy tucked in.
Then laying a hand on his shield oh so grand,
He vaulted back onto his ride with a stand.
He revved up the engine, let loose a soft cry:
“Keep freedom alive ‘til the day that I die!”
And I heard him exclaim as he vanished from sight—
“Happy Fourth to all, and to all a proud night!” 🇺🇸 🍻
