~~~~FRIDAY FUN FACT~~~~
THE BIOLOGY OF MISTLETOE
🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄
When you hear mistletoe, do you think of kissing at Christmas? How would you feel about kissing under a parasite? The sprig of mistletoe that is a romantic Christmas tradition isn't really a plant at all, but a parasite.
Parasites feed off their host. Mistletoe obtains water and nutrients from trees(the host). Although it can be harmful to some trees, the berries it produces are a food source to birds and insects, thus contributing to the ecosystem.
Remember this fun fact when kissing your loved one under the mistletoe this Christmas.
