The legendary P-40 WARHAWK!
𤩠One of the most recognizable fighters of World War II, the P-40 earned its place in aviation history through its rugged design, powerful performance and unforgettable shark-mouth nose art. This historic warbird will bring the sights and sounds of another era to the skies over Lake Charles on August 29 & 30.
š The P-40ās appearance will carry even greater meaning at this particular air show.
š Major General Claire Lee Chennault - the namesake of Chennault International Airport - commanded the famed Flying Tigers during World War II. Flying P-40 fighters over China, the group became celebrated for its skill, courage and remarkable success against overwhelming odds.
š«¶ Now, more than eight decades later, a P-40 Warhawk will take to the skies at the airport that proudly carries Chennaultās name. No aircraft could be more fitting for this historic weekend.
š Adding to the excitement of this historic connection is the Chennault International Airport celebrating its 40TH ANNIVERSARY this year!
The Warhawk joins an action-packed lineup headlined by the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, bringing two unforgettable days of military aviation, aerobatics, ground displays and family-friendly excitement to Southwest Louisiana.
