Acting Concertmaster, Season 42

For Lin He, music is more than a profession. It is a connection to family, a lifelong passion, and a way to bring people together.

Born in Shanghai, Lin began studying music at age five, inspired by his father, who served as Concertmaster of the Shanghai Opera House for 22 years. Today, Lin carries that legacy forward, leading from the same seat his father once held.

“Music is a powerful language.”

His career has taken him to Carnegie Hall and stages across the world. Now in his twentieth year as a violin professor at LSU, Lin has made Louisiana home, dedicating his life to performing, teaching, and inspiring young musicians.

Beyond the stage, music remains deeply personal. As a devoted husband and father, Lin shares his love of music with his young daughter and honors the memory of his late parents through his artistry.

“How I play the violin is who I am.”

As ASO’s Acting Concertmaster for Season 42, Lin brings that sincerity to every performance, reminding us that you don't need to know classical music to be moved by it. All it takes is a willingness to listen.

Opening night of the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra’s America 250 program paid homage to many American classics.

A work of art created for a moment in ASO history. 🇺🇸🎨

Last week, during our Opening Night Maestro Circle reception for America at 250, we had the privilege of unveiling an original work by Jessica Elizabeth Moore, painted especially in celebration of the evening and America’s 250th anniversary.

The piece beautifully brings together music, history, place, and the spirit of celebration that inspired our Opening Night program.

Jessica is a Lafayette-based artist, educator, and curator whose work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. She earned her BFA in Studio Art: Printmaking from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and her MFA from Texas Tech University. Her work has appeared in more than 50 invitational and juried exhibitions, including exhibitions at the Hilliard Art Museum, Acadiana Center for the Arts, Alexandria Museum of Art, and Cornell Art Museum. She is currently curator of Frame Shop Gallery 912 and owner and director of Achilles Print Studio in Lafayette.

We are so grateful to Jessica for creating such a striking visual expression of this special moment for ASO and for sharing her extraordinary talent with our patrons.

Up Next with ASO 🎻

It’ll be hard to top Opening Night. Fortunately, October is just getting started.

On October 22, ASO turns up the volume with Windborne’s The Music of the Rolling Stones, featuring guest conductor Brent Havens and vocalist Justin Sargent. The passion and power of a full symphony orchestra meet one of rock’s most iconic catalogs in a celebration of 60 years of Satisfaction! 🎸

Then on October 25, we open our Chamber Series with Stravinsky’s A Soldier’s Tale. A soldier makes a deal with the devil, trading his violin for the promise of wealth, and what follows is a story of temptation, suspense, and consequence.

In the intimacy of chamber music, every detail of the story and every musician is brought that much closer to the audience.

Two iconic works. Two completely different ASO experiences. October is just getting started.

Still not over the beauty of Opening Night. 🇺🇸🎻

It was a privilege to open Season 42 by celebrating 250 years of America in sound, brought to life through the power and artistry of the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra.

America’s history in sound, brought to life by Zhu Wang 王铸 and the power of ASO🇺🇸🎹

Last night, Zhu brought extraordinary artistry to Gershwin’s iconic Rhapsody in Blue, helping us open America at 250 with a performance worthy of our history.
