So much happened this month, it’s kinda wild. From Jude starting Kindergarten to getting back to work after the move, life has been wild.

Lots of things I’ve loved this month!
💻 Work-wise, Brand Camp is the top highlight! Kristy⚡️Logo + Brand Designer ⚡️ Brand Strategist 🪩 is so creative, brilliant, and intentional and I’ve loved every minute of Camp!
📕 Our book club read Lessons in Chemistry. It was somehow devastating, uplifting, and affirming all in one
🍩 It’s apple c***r donut season
💕 My kids are too cute. But also we are going faceless over here so sorry you missed out on their cute lil faces
😂 Jude has been obsessed with scaling lampposts
👏 With this post, I officially met my posting goal for this month!
🤩 Jude and I had a whole weekend together just the two of us when Kyle and Eli went to visit my in-laws. We had a fun dinner out, lots of adventures, and great snuggles during movie night.

First of all, know that you are not alone. It’s so much easier for our brains to do the safer tasks. The ones that don’t involve other people or “putting yourself out there”.

Yes, a nice website is important. Yes, it’s good to be organized as a business owner.

But those safe tasks will only take you so far. Because they rarely have any real impact on your income and the success of your business.

Okay this one’s real this time 🤣

I’ve hired a few coaches over the years. Some in the wellness space and some in business, and it taught me a lot.

One time I jumped into a program the same day I discovered the coach on social media because she pushed and pushed and pushed. But in a subtle way. A way that made me feel like I absolutely needed to be in her program.

One week in and I hated the entire thing. But I had dropped a ton of money on it, so then I hated myself for being wasteful. And suddenly this program that was supposed to help me actually made me feel so much worse.

So I boiled my experiences down into these 5 things to consider when hiring a business coach.

Because if you’re going to invest in yourself and your business, it needs to be worth it. And the best way to do that is to make sure it’s a good fit from the beginning.

And now that I’m writing this, I’m genuinely curious, which one of these sticks out to you the most? Or maybe you’ve been burned by one of these? Or maybe I missed one? Let me know!

Mikaela’s personal brand is a little more complex than the brand of her brick and mortar business.

Her brick and mortar is all about dopamine hits and self-care as a priority. Done and done.

But her as a business owner? That’s a different story.

After her own lived experiences, Mikaela is passionate about supporting others as they build authentic lives and discover the freedoms that come with advocating for your own needs and wants.

Through that self-discovery, she evolved into a powerful, badass, don’t f*** with me business owner. She knows what she wants and she’s going to make things happen.

But she’s also a big believer in the power of womanhood and femininity, finding joy in quiet moments and sparkly disco balls, and what a good haircut can do for your soul.

One of my coaching clients messaged me earlier today… in her first round of coaching we focused on presence (think social media and SEO), building her systems, and having processes in place so that when booking season picked up, she’d be ready to go.

The day we finished testing her workflows, she had an inquiry. Then another. Then another.

In her message today, she was jumping for joy, reasonably so. She went from nothing but free sessions for family and friends, to having her own sister submit an official inquiry.

Everything she had worked on gave her confidence and opened the door for her to show up authentically.

And people noticed.

This is why I do what I do. Whether it’s coaching or brand photos, these are the stories that matter.

In her session earlier today, we wanted to highlight all of those aspects by showing her in her comfiest state (hello cozy blanket and sweats on a fuzzy couch) but also showing the little details that make her work unique (like her homemade cuticle butter that comes in FOUR different scents?!).
