Did you know the neckline of your dress makes the biggest impact on how you look and feel? Your skirt and and design decisions set the tone. The neckline sits under your face, frames you shoulders and shapes your bust. So while dress shopping, if something feels off, check the neckline.
Straight Across- Balances a wider hip, de-emphasizes cleavage, balances a long or more oval face shape.
Boatneck- Elongates a short torso, broadens sloped shoulders, frames the collarbones and minimizes the bustling.
Cat Eye- Elongates the neck, defines the shoulders, draws eyes upward toward the face, and flatters a rounder, fuller face shape.
Halter- Lengthens the body, makes the shoulders seem defined and athletic, it can also narrow broader shoulders. Great on rounder face shapes.
Sweetheart- Lengthens the neck, beautifully defines the bust line, softens angular features, compliments square and rectangular faces.
Plunge- Lengthens the upper body and neck. Narrows shoulders by drawing attention to the center of the chest. Slims the face.
Off-the-Shoulder- Widens narrow or sloped shoulders, balances out a wider hip, creating a very hourglass figure. Balances longer faces.
High Neck- Draws attention away from a fuller chest. Brings the focal point to the face. Defines the jawline, so it is best on an angular or longer face.
Notched- Subtly elongates the neckline, centers the eye which narrows the shoulders. Supports larger busts, but allows tasteful cleavage.
Square- Adds structure, subtly elongates the neck, gives softer features more definition.
Bikini- Lengthens the neck, softens angular features, gives the illusion of a fuller bust while framing the collarbones.
Cowl- Softens angular features, fills out and softens the bust, elongates the torso and softens the shoulders.
