One of the least glamorous parts of being a wedding florist is also one of the most important.

Making sure the flowers actually survive the wedding.

Because flowers are living things.

They react to heat. They need water. Some open faster than others. Some are incredibly delicate. Some can handle being out of water longer than you'd think.

And when we're designing a wedding, we're thinking about all of that.

Not just whether a flower is beautiful.

But whether it's going to look beautiful at 5 PM when the ceremony starts.

Whether it can handle the location.

Whether it needs special mechanics or extra care.

Whether there's a better option that will give us the same look without the risk.

It's not always the most exciting part of floral design to talk about.

But it's a pretty big part of making sure the flowers look as good when you walk down the aisle as they did when we finished making them.

Pretty is important. Knowing how to keep it pretty matters, too.

The flowers are the fun part.

But before they ever make it into a bouquet or centerpiece, there are recipes, orders, deliveries, processing, timelines, mechanics, transportation, installation plans, and approximately 400 tiny decisions.

And honestly?

I kind of love that part, too.

There's something really satisfying about taking a big creative idea and figuring out how to actually make it work.

Especially when the end result looks completely effortless.

Pretty flowers. A whole lot of planning. And a very happy florist. 🌸

Here's a wedding flower opinion I will always stand by: more isn't automatically better.

And trust me, I love an excuse to use more flowers.

But sometimes the most beautiful thing we can do for a wedding is know when to stop.

Not every corner needs an arrangement.

Not every table needs something enormous.

Not every floral moment needs to compete for attention.

Sometimes a beautiful room needs one really strong statement.

Sometimes it needs a handful of thoughtful details.

And sometimes it absolutely needs flowers everywhere.

The trick is knowing which wedding you're designing.

Because good floral design isn't about using the most flowers. It's about making the right decisions with them.

“I know what I like, but I have no idea how to put it all together.”

PERFECT. 😂

Seriously.

You don't need to walk into a consultation knowing exactly which flowers you want in every arrangement.

You can know that you love color.

That you want the ceremony to feel romantic.

That you want something interesting at the reception.

That you absolutely do not want everything to look too traditional.

Those are all great starting points.

My job is to take those preferences, look at your venue, understand your priorities, and start figuring out what would actually make sense for your wedding.

And honestly, that's where some of the most exciting ideas happen.
