The Mary Ricks Thornton Cultural Center was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992 and designated a Mississippi Landmark in 1995. The structure served as the First Presbyterian Church of Kosciusko from 1899 to 1984. The Victorian-American-type stained-glass windows are exceptionally noteworthy and are dedicated to some of the 1890 stalwarts of the community.
Mary Ricks Thornton spearheaded a community drive to reactivate the Kosciusko-Attala Historical Society and purchase the old church for its headquarters. The group purchased the property for $80,000 in 1987. The facility is now used for meetings of the historical society and can be used for weddings, club programs, recitals, lectures, etc.
The Delta Gamma Memorial Room honors the memory of three Kosciusko ladies who founded the Delta Gamma Fraternity in 1873- Mary Comfort Leonard, Eva Webb Dodd, and Anna Boyd Ellington.
