After nine love-drunk seasons, I’m hanging up my officiant hat.

I’m closing out this experience the same way I started it: by making space for new beginnings.

10/10 recommend getting a puppy before marriage — especially if kiddos are in your future.

You’ll learn more about your future spouse and what kind of parent they’ll be in three months with a pup than you will in three years sans dog.

But to weatherproof your relationship, you must treat each other with the same curiosity, kindness, mutual respect, acceptance, and trust you give a friend.

Married my friend, Cale, eight years ago and our friendship is my favorite thing about our marriage.

Our life together is charmed because our friendship is the foundation for our marriage.

We have built a meaningful life and created a loving, nurturing home filled with love, laughter, learning, strong values, and deep roots.

Like the pillars of this historic memorial, Savannah and Jake have held one another through joy and celebration, through grief and uncertainty.

They weather every storm together – and are stronger, closer, and wiser for it.

Savannah and Jake had a perfect tiny wedding. It was intimate, intentional, and absolutely magical.

Not once did they lose sight of their values or their love for one another.

And they walked into their marriage knowing it’s their greatest adventure yet.

The girls who made me a mama & the wisely-chosen, perfect-for-me husband who helps me hold our family as one.

Walking into Mother’s Day weekend in awe of this beautiful, messy, connected, and charming little life we’ve created.

If you’ve lost your mother in any sense, never got to know her, or really dread her, I know this weekend can sting like salt in an unhealed wound. Or maybe you’re waiting for your own baby to make you a mama…I also walk with you and am in awe of your bravery and resilience.

My own mom got sober when I was 21. I completely lost the childhood I wanted and the mother I needed. While she’s almost 20 years into her recovery (and what a gift), she missed the ride. I solidly hated Mother’s Day for decades. It felt like a personal affront.

So, when I say I’m in awe, I truly mean it.
