💍 Wedding venue vs. wedding coordinator: what’s the difference?

One thing we always encourage couples to understand when planning their wedding is the difference between your venue and a wedding coordinator.

Your venue is responsible for the space itself—things like making sure the venue is ready, providing the amenities included in your rental, helping with venue-related questions, and making sure everything within the venue’s responsibilities is taken care of.

A wedding coordinator is focused on your wedding day as a whole. They can help create and manage your timeline, communicate with your vendors, keep everyone on schedule, help coordinate transitions throughout the day, and handle those little behind-the-scenes details so you don’t have to.

And honestly? Having a coordinator can be such a valuable part of your vendor team. 🤍

Your venue shouldn’t have to be responsible for coordinating your photographer, DJ, caterer, florist, hair and makeup team, transportation, timeline, bridal party, family photos, and every other moving piece of your wedding day.

That’s where a wedding coordinator comes in.

A little behind-the-scenes look at what goes into a wedding day 🤍

This past weekend, we had a couple who chose to have their ceremony inside with 350 guests seated downstairs. Once the ceremony was over, guests headed outside for cocktail hour while the entire space was flipped for the reception.

While the couple and their families enjoyed cocktail hour, 11 people were working behind the scenes to completely transform the room.

And you know what’s so great about that?

Not one family member had to stay behind and help.
No bridal party members were missing cocktail hour.
The couple didn’t have to worry about whether the room would be ready.

They got to enjoy their wedding day while their vendor team handled the work happening behind the scenes. 🤍

This is exactly why having a great team of vendors who communicate and work together matters so much. It takes a lot of hands, teamwork, and coordination to make a wedding day flow smoothly—and when you have the right people around you, the couple gets to simply enjoy the day they spent so much time planning.

Think rings, invitations, perfume, jewelry, shoes, flowers, heirlooms, vow books, and any other little pieces that are meaningful to you.

Having everything together in one spot saves your photographer time and gives them the freedom to create beautiful detail photos without having to search the bridal suite for everything.

✨ Pro tip: Put all of your details in a small box or bag the night before and hand it to your photographer when they arrive. That way, you can relax and let them take it from there!
