Long overdo update!

Flour Power had an amazing event a few weekends ago with Stottle Winery in Lacey! 4 wines with 4 pastries. A great turnout with a lot of wonderful guests and BEAUTIFUL wines.

Bonus? Everyone loved my pairings! 🥳🥳🥳

Fingers crossed I get the opportunity to work with the Stottle crew again! Their wines are amazing and lovely for food pairings.

Today was fantastic at Category 5 Cellars! Amazing weather, beautiful wine and delicious pastries! Come by tomorrow to see what all the fuss is about! There will be fantastic live music, and a deal on a pack of the tasting wines to go!

Sweet & Savory Pastry Food/Wine Pairing Is Back!

Kim from Flour Power Banking Company will be whipping up another batch of pastries and paring with our wines next weekend, May 13th/14th. For those who went through this experience a month ago, you know how awesome her pastries are. The thing I really like is her pastries are not just sweet, there is also mouth watering savory! We were literally packed last time, so make sure you get your reservations in.

Chicken Shawarma Triangles with 2021 Albariño
A take on the Middle Eastern staple, seasoned chicken with a tahini yogurt sauce, wrapped in buttery phyllo pastry. (Vegan spanikopita available on request)

Strawberry mousse tart with The Hacker Rosé
Almond shortbread crust with a fluffy fresh strawberry mousse, strawberry drizzle and mousseline cream.

Toffee chip cookie with 2019 Cabernet Franc
Chocolate toffee bits in a buttery cookie - a spin on Grandma's finest.

Tomato asiago galette with 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon
Fresh tomatoes and nutty asiago with toasted pine nuts in puff pastry

Pomegranate walnut chicken roll with 2018 Framework (BDX)
Fesenjan is a Persian stew typically served over rice. This recreation is rolled in buttery phyllo pastry. (Vegan spanakopita available on request)

I'm SO EXCITED for next weekend! I'm back at Category 5 Cellars for a pastry pop up. We're revisiting 2 pairings, and there will be 3 new items!

I love trying new foods from all over the world, and I'm thrilled that my hunch was right..... Next weekend we are featuring chicken shawarma, which is a middle eastern staple. I'm putting a spin on it by wrapping it in buttery phyllo pastry.

The other interesting pairing is a pomegranate walnut chicken pastry. Fesenjan is a Persian stew, usually served with rice or potatoes. I'm taking inspiration for this phenomenal dish and incorporating phyllo pastry!

Not a meat eater? My vegan spanikopita is available as an alternative!
