Recently, the Supreme Court has been formally asked to overturn Obergefell v. Hodges ā the landmark 2015 decision that made same-sex marriage legal nationwide. This petition comes from Kim Davis, the former Kentucky clerk who famously refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
Every time marriage equality is questioned, it sends a ripple of fear, uncertainty, and frustration through the LGBTQ+ community and all those who believe in fairness and love without limits.
At Ceremonies by Lori, we have celebrated countless couples whose love stories are as valid, beautiful, and important as anyone elseās. To imagine a world where those couples could be denied the right to marry ā or even have their marriages questioned ā is heartbreaking.
That is why I will continue to fight to get the Marriage Act codified here in Pennsylvania. Our state must have protections in place so marriage equality is safe, secure, and untouchable ā no matter what happens in Washington.
Love is love. Always.
Itās not political. Itās not up for debate.
Itās about dignity, respect, and the freedom to marry the person you love.
And I promise you ā I will keep speaking out, keep standing up, and keep fighting for love in all its beautiful forms.
10 years after the Supreme Court extended marriage rights to all same-sex couples, it will consider whether to take a case asking it to overturn the decision.
