Story time!!

Let me tell yall about the time I witnessed (and participated) in a massive 11th hour pivot. S & S got married Thornewood Castle and if you’ve had the honor of seeing that place in person you know how gorgeous the garden is. Welp in true PNW fashion the beautiful blue skies turned grey (and wet) literally seconds before the ceremony was set to begin. In an effort to keep everyone dry & happy Grit City Weddings + Events and a team of vendors (and even a few helpful guests) grabbed chairs and we headed inside. Not only did we all stay dry but it shifted the energy of the ceremony to feel more intimate. We packed in that room, some folks standing, others in chairs or couches, and we celebrated the union of S & S. It was beautiful and the best reminder that the goal is not perfection, it’s celebration. And that’s exactly what we did. Congratulations again you two 🤍

Grammy speech incoming:

First, I’d like to thank myself for betting on myself. 🤍

When I first wondered if being a professional wedding officiant was even a thing, I did about 20 minutes of research, saw that a handful of people were doing it, and thought… “Why not me?”

Since then, it’s been a whole lot of learning as I go, late nights, early mornings, road trips, problem-solving, and showing up for couples while also balancing life as a wife, mom, and friend. It’s been beautiful, exhausting, fulfilling, and absolutely worth it.

I’m incredibly lucky to have a village of family and friends who constantly cheer me on, recommend my business, celebrate the wins, and ride along so I can use the carpool lane. I truly would not be here without you.

This journey has reminded me that while you can go fast alone, you go so much farther together.

This year I’m serving more LGBTQ+ couples than ever before, and that means the world to me.

What it tells me is that people are paying attention to who is genuinely creating safe, welcoming spaces and who is simply checking a box. Because allyship is bigger than a rainbow logo during Pride Month. It’s about showing up, standing beside people, amplifying their voices, and supporting their right to love openly and authentically all year long.

As a wedding officiant, I don’t just want every couple to feel accepted, I want them to feel celebrated.

So thank you, C & M, for trusting me to be part of your day. Your love, your joy, and the way you showed up for each other was beautiful to witness. I’m honored to have stood beside you as you started this next chapter.

Cheers to a lifetime of love and being unapologetically yourselves. 🏳️‍🌈✨
