In 2016, I graduated with a self-designed bachelor's degree in wedding and event planning from Miami University, Ohio. I had high hopes, big dreams, and a passion for bringing to life couple's beautiful visions for their BIG day.
The following November (2017), taking advantage of the black Friday sales, I officially launched my wedding and event planning business and was able to have my website go live. For the next year, all I did was network with other vendors. I went to every wedding show I could find, and as many networking events as I could.
The following year (2018), I had a couple of weddings and continued to network while obtaining my first master's degree in small business management from Central Michigan University. In 2019, I felt my business begin to pick up and I was able to do 5 weddings.
In 2020, C-V hit, and the wedding industry (among others) got hit HARD! But, I was still able to get a few weddings in that year. By 2022, things were evening out and weddings were beginning to happen again, and I had my best year, with 9 events that I got to help plan, coordinate and bring to life.
In 2023, I only had 8 events but I kept my head high, knowing it took a while for businesses to grow.
Unfortunately, in August 2023, I was hospitalized, twice with stroke-like symptoms. I was later diagnosed with vertigo migraines and bells palsy due to a viral infection - good times...
I still had high hopes and was attending wedding shows and buying marketing materials and I felt in my bones that 2024 was going to be a GREAT year for my business to grow. But, fate had other plans when Chris and I went on vacation in Peru, and I ended up getting run over by a motorcycle, and came home with a brown shoulder, 2 black eyes, a swollen face and a 3 inch laceration in my head. I had to unfortunately cancel most of my events that year because I loyally want able to do anything.
Then came 2025... once again, I thought THIS was going to be the year! And, if you are personal friends with me on FB or follow my personal account, y'all know that 2025 was most definitely NOT the year. In fact it was the WORST year of my life, and I only had one event in September.
By the end of the year, I was feeling frustrated and not sure which direction to take. But, I decided that maybe broadening my boundaries to more than just the Dayton area that maybe, just maybe I can make this year, 2026 a GREAT one. And, when I completed the wedding show in Columbus back in March, I REALLY thought things were turning around and I went home with TWELVE consultations booked, and an excitement that I reveled in. Unfortunately, not one of those leads ended up panning out. The clients either cancelled on me for the consultations, went with another planner, or ghosted me all together.
So, after talking extensively with Chris, and praying, I have made the heartbreakingly sad decision to close down WRIGHT TIME, WRIGHT PLACE EVENTS, LLC. I have one event at the end of June, and that will be my last event.
I am currently obtaining my 2nd master's degree in Outdoor Recreation Economy, and have a business idea that Chris and I are going to try to make happen. And, who knows, maybe if this new venture is able to do well, I MIGHT be able to event planning again. But for now, this chapter in my life is closing. Between now and the end of August, I will be going through my wedding inventory and selling off items, so if you're interested in them, stay tuned.
Thank you to all who have supported me through this. I'm very grateful for the friendships I have made.
