This guy played on six NFL teams and in the 2015 Pro Bowl. Now he is the inventor of Shower Pill and most recently the brand Hustle Clean. His name is Justin Forsett. 10 years ago, in 2010, Justin was 25 years old and playing as a starting running back for the Seattle Seahawks. I was living in an apartment at Pike Place and commuting by skateboard everyday to my studio in Pioneer Square. Seattle Fashion Network contacted me to photograph an editorial assignment with Justin as the model.
Although my first photo shoot with an athlete, the editorial piece had a fashion direction. So instead of getting sweaty and doing some action shots, capturing the fashion outfits was one of the objectives. To add to the concept, I wanted to experiment with using Justin as the singular model in images with multiple roles. In the first photo, “Photographer, Model, Assistant”, Justin acts out all three of these roles.
In this time of my photography career I was just starting to do quite a bit of testing with photo compositing techniques and planning out the final edits in advance. I was finding an inner passion for these types of techniques as well as studio lighting and light modifiers. Because of this I was undoubtedly starting to feel a pull from being a portrait and wedding photographer towards searching for more conceptual projects and commercial work.
Justin played for NFL teams Seattle Seahawks, Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, Baltimore Ravens, Detroit Lions, and Denver Broncos. He played in the 2015 Pro Bowl and retired from the NFL in 2017.
Justin now has his own company/brand, Shower Pill, and most recently, Hustle Clean. He’s come up with some products to help stay clean after workouts when there’s no time to shower. Sounds good to me!
