4” for $20 and 2” for $12.50. To think a year ago these were going for over $100 for a tissue culture.

I have been so deep in plant land, I have been neglecting the floral side a bit. To fill you in- I have very much been following my heart and focusing on what sparks joy for me- which has been mostly the weird and wonderful world of rare plants. But a big chunk of my heart still belongs to flowers and though I am taking a break from everyday floral, I am continuing to do weddings and events.

Since no longer doing everyday floral, I will have a minimum spend for events. Doing individual bridal bouquets when wholesalers sell stems by the bunches is no longer viable when I don’t have other arrangements I can incorporate the excess stems into. I will be putting together some great wedding packages and also an à la carte menu and hope to connect with couples who share our wild vibe. We have weddings booked most months this summer, but we can squeeze a few more in.

Below are some arrangements from a Christmas event last month- the vibe was bright and cheerful and wild as it is- 90% of these arrangements were sourced locally- what a crazy, mild winter it has been!!

For now I am enjoying the planty down time, but I know wedding season will be here in a flash!!💕

We feel so much love and it’s been so great to connect with plant friends old and new from Seattle all the way to Bend!

Today I am also corm harvesting 🤔.

What’s that you say?

It’s the little bulb that’s grow from the bottom of my alocasias- they can be plucked off and with a combination of heat and humidity will grow into a plant will beautiful leaves just like the mom.

If you’re falling in love with my $$$ gold ticket Alocasias, it’s a way to grow your own- and then a way to turn your hobby into a side hustle. Next thing you know you have a shop. 🩵

Happy Thanksgiving Plant Friends

Just wanted to wish you all a day of gratitude and love, but also to acknowledge that holidays can be a hard reminder of loss. If today is one of those days, I’m sending strength and so much care your way.

To those working the holiday- I see you. I’ve worked plenty myself and I know the sacrifice.

Today is my first day off in yonks (truly couldn’t tell you when the last one was) — but this place is my happy place, so don’t shed a tear for me. I just wanted to share the weekend happenings:

See that little drop of dew at the leaf tip?

It’s a completely natural and totally harmless process that some plants do, called guttation.

Cause: Root pressure (not humidity or dew)

Time: Usually at night or early morning

Where: Leaf tips or margins

What it looks like: Clear or slightly sticky droplets (sometimes mistaken for dew)

Alocasias, colocasias, some philos are a few of the many species that guttate.

His shop will sell big, STUNNING plants like this one and also have a propagation, grow space and tissue culture lab that will feed both of our shops as well as other plant stores in the future.
