April was full of exciting adventures in Cheshire County 4-H! One of our adventures was Exploring Vernal Pools at on April 30. It was a damp but exciting morning at Distant Hill Nature Trail in Walpole. We discovered all kinds of larvae and explored the environments they live in. Participants even got to touch slimy egg masses and witness nature coming back to life! We also practiced our “ribbit” calls when another red newt was found! The morning ended with a story about amphibian crossings and how we can help them on their journey.

Farm, Forest and Garden Expo was a BLAST! 🚀 From rocket stomping, Rue Goldberg Machines, awesome youth speeches and demonstrations, to the Grilled Cheese Contest - smiles and joy was abound!

A rainy day can't keep the fun away for 4-H'ers! We know how to make learning and being engaged super fun.

Congrats Grilled Cheese Contest participants and winners! 🏆A little bit of rain won't stop you from making the mooooo-st delicious grilled cheeses! 🐄🥛🧀

Hello Nature Explorers!

Our upcoming Outdoor Environmental Education event is coming up next week — Family Ponding Safari with the Harris Center and the Caterpillar Lab! It is 4 - 5:30pm at Robin Hood Park in Keene on Friday, May 8th.

Come meet the experts on terrestrial and aquatic invertebrates, and beyond! Catch some fish, get tickled by caterpillar feet, scoop a frog, see algae under a microscope, and have a BLAST with other families in a family-fun park in Keene! 🐟🎣🍥🐌🐛🐜🔬🌳🐍🕷️🦗🌿🐸🪴🐞🐦‍⬛🐦
