Our Story
Hi all, my name is Liz, and I’m so excited to introduce you to Single Handedly Liz!
I have my Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Merchandising and Design and a minor in Entrepreneurial Studies from Iowa State University. I started sewing in 2012 in college, and I’ve been hooked ever since. I love creating unique one-of-a-kind garments that make women feel great in their own skin.
I pride myself in being a part of every single aspect during the design process of my garments. I source all of my materials on my own, create all of my own patterns, often dye my own fabrics, and of course, sew and fit all of my pieces to each and every individual.
How was Single Handedly Liz born?
I was born with a Brachial Plexus Injury to my right arm, which has caused it to be paralyzed for my entire life. While I have never let it stop me from following my dreams, and having a hands-on career in design, it’s a huge part of what makes me who I am as a person. Having a fun and open attitude about how I don’t let my disability stop me is incredibly important, and I love having the opportunity to educate anyone who’s curious to know more.
I grew up in Liberty, Missouri and I currently reside in Kearney, Missouri. I will forever consider Kansas City my home, and I’m so excited to have the opportunity to open an alterations and design space here in the Northland.
I am so excited to show off what I can create for women in the Kansas City area, and I can’t wait to meet you all.
