Wedding planning sounds glamorous.

The reality? 😂

It’s mostly me, in my pajamas, at my computer at 10:30 PM, surrounded by spreadsheets, timelines, floor plans, vendor emails and approximately 47 tabs… wishing I was at Disneyland. 🫠🏰

There are definitely glamorous moments. Beautiful venues. Gorgeous tablescapes. Happy couples. The BIG moments that make all the late nights worth it.

But the majority of this job? It’s behind the scenes. It’s problem-solving, organizing, double-checking, emailing, measuring, revising and making approximately 900 tiny decisions so my couples don’t have to.

And I genuinely LOVE that part. There’s something pretty special about getting to take all the moving pieces and turn them into a day that feels effortless for someone else.

But glamorous?
Not usually. 😂

Also, completely unrelated but I will let my last Covid FISHIE live in peace and solitude. So he gets all the glamour. Stay tuned for the tank reset once he carries on to the next.

Wedding planner by day. Pajama-clad spreadsheet warrior by night.

Would I trade it? Absolutely not. ❤️

Vendor chat ☕️ — does anyone else feel like they’re interviewing for a job every time they’re meeting with a potential vendor? 😂

But honestly, those initial calls and coffee meetups are SO important.

Yes, we’re talking about packages, pricing, timelines and all the logistics… but we’re also figuring out if we jive. You’re trusting me with one of the biggest days of your life, and I want you to feel comfortable with me — and I want to feel comfortable with you, too!

So ask for the coffee. Schedule the quick call. Have the conversation before you book.

The right vendor relationship makes the whole process better. 🤍

Also… please ignore my absolutely tragic hair-curling technique in this video. Apparently event planning is my skill set, not hair styling. 😂

Let’s talk event lighting. 💡

Please don’t let it be an afterthought! Lighting is both functional AND aesthetic, and it can completely change how a space feels.
You may need different levels of brightness throughout the event, there are SO many layout options, and of course, that means there are plenty of price points, too.

My advice? Talk through your lighting needs with your planner and lighting vendor early so you know what you actually need—and what will make your event shine. ✨

Bustler over here 🙋🏽‍♀️😂

Over the years, I’ve seen so many different bustles, and my best advice? Record everything.

Have your seamstress demonstrate exactly how and where your dress bustles—and make sure you capture all the little details on video.

And then, don’t skip this part: send that video to your planner!
That way, we know exactly where each loop, button, hook, or tie goes, and we’re not trying to figure it out for the first time on your wedding day. 🙌🏽

A quick little video can make the bustling process SO much faster and easier when it’s time to get you back out on the dance floor! 💃🏽✨

Today was just littered with throwbacks…ALL POSITIVE! My 20th high school reunion clearly has me reminiscing! Being able to look back with love and gratitude at all that has come before my now, I count as an absolute blessing 🩷 Can’t wait to see you all soon

Another fun fact-when I was an Environmental Scientist, my coworkers and I would grab bentos and eat lunch on the palace lawn, enjoying the Royal Hawaiian Band on Fridays!

Did you know second Sundays are Kama’aina Sundays at ‘Iolani Palace?! I’ll be checking that out very soon with my ‘ohana!

POV: your wedding planner clocked out and became the guest 🤍

No timelines, no radios—just soaking in the magic, hyping up the incredible vendor team, and actually sitting down to enjoy the view (what a concept 😂).

Getting to experience it all from the other side, with my favorite wedding date—my husband—hits different.

Grateful for the love, the beauty, and the reminder of why I do what I do ✨
