Not sure where to even start.
I took a break from social media a while back, but when you’re a DJ trying to promote what you do, it’s hard to stay away completely. After a lot of thought, I’ve decided to step away from socials entirely for a good while.
The internet can be exhausting. It used to be a place where I could explore, discover new ideas, and watch people create incredible things. It still can be, but now there’s so much negativity, political bu****it, constant arguments, and people tearing each other down for no reason. You can say, “Just ignore it,” but that’s easier said than done when every other post is something chaotic.
For me, it’s become draining. I’ve spent too much time mindlessly scrolling, wishing I was doing the things I care about instead of actually doing them.
I started this journey as SLVR FOX because I wanted to be a DJ and producer. Somewhere along the way, I realized I’ve spent too much time focused on local DJ gigs and not enough time focused on what I originally set out to do.
That brings me to this realization: I don’t think I’ve truly enjoyed playing a set in a long time.
It hurts to say it, but the last set I genuinely enjoyed was at DFT last year. Since then, everything has felt off. I’ve been confused about who I am as an artist, and over the past few years I’ve slowly lost sight of why I started doing this in the first place. At times, those feelings have even made me consider quitting altogether.
There’s so much noise online. Everyone is trying to follow the next trend or recreate what another artist is doing, hoping it works for them. If I’m being honest, I’ve fallen into that trap too. That’s another big reason I’ve decided to step away from social media.
The truth is, I’ve wanted to make music since I was 14 years old. I didn’t care what kind—I just wanted to create something that felt meaningful. Music has moved me, inspired me, and, at times, saved me. I’ve always hoped I could do the same for someone else through my own music.
