From our CEO: After deep reflection, countless conversations with my family, and listening to the quiet (and not-so-quiet) pulls of my heart, I’ve made a decision that hasn’t come easy. With the expiration of our 2026 liquor license, Shots by Miko will officially close its chapter in the full-service beverage industry. 2026 will be our final year in full operation.
This decision has been years in the making—wrestled with, postponed, reconsidered—but I know in my spirit that it’s time. For the past 13 years (as of 2025), I’ve poured everything into Shots by Miko: the brand, the team, the esteemed professionalism, the clients, the pandemic pivots, the innovations, the overhead, the visibility, and most of all, the love. I'm proud to say I’m stepping away on my own terms.
I’m filled with gratitude for every person who played a role in this journey—from the ones who pushed me to turn this into a business, to those who helped make it legal and legit, to my day-one team and every incredible talent that’s come through and left their mark. To my peers in the industry who collaborated, supported, and sometimes even asked me for direction—thank you. And to the many friends I’ve had the pleasure of working with, for, and beside over the years: I see you, I appreciate you, and I’ll never forget the ride.
As we prepare to wind down operations entering 2026, Shots by Miko: Custom Cocktails & Shots—the first minority woman-owned full-service beverage company in KC, two-time KCPCA award winner, KC Magazine-featured mixologist, 3rd place winner of Black Restaurant Week Power of the Palate cocktail competition, published mixologist, Maker’s Mark ambassador, Delux Magazine highlighted business and so much more—will leave behind a legacy I’m deeply proud of.
From the trunk to the club, from TV features to exclusive events, and all the way to store shelves—thank you for rocking with us for over a decade.
