Week #8
Block 37 (Spring Edition)

As we conclude the final week of Block 37 with students at De La Salle Education Center, it was only fitting for the finale to end with a fine dining experience. Service in a fine dining restaurant is more attentive and formal than your average full-service restaurant, offering a slower pace and a more sophisticated ambiance. Leading up to this day, students learned proper table etiquette while discussing how to navigate through each meal course.
Our outing began at Stock Hill. The journey started with a tour of the dining room, followed by a discussion regarding the roles of the front and back of the house. Lastly, the dining experience began…

The menu options started with appetizers. The generous menu offered familiar favorites while also introducing the group to something new. (Our ongoing rule since day one: try it before you decide you don’t like it.) This led us to the following:

Students were also able to engage with owner/restaurateur Allen Gaylin and Executive Chef Frank Lalumia. Gary Harris kept the group engaged with menu offerings while sharing his experience in hospitality. Thank you for the opportunity to visit and for taking time out of your schedules to make this a memorable experience. 💜

From learning proper table manners to understanding the importance of appearance and professionalism, students were given the tools to confidently present themselves in any setting. Preparing students for life means teaching both skills and self-confidence. ✨
