"My friends and family will be the first to tell you I jump on any reason to get together. They'll also tell you I'm a little... well, over the top when it comes to those gatherings. So when my husband and I found out we were expecting again, (much to his chagrin) I decided I wanted to throw a gender reveal party. So I did what I always do; invited our dearest friends and family, made a secret Pinterest board and went just a little overboard. While the photos may not be the most glamorous (seriously, this is why you hire a professional photographer for your wedding! And why I probably should have a house cleaner on retainer...), I thought I would share with you guys just a glimpse into one of my own home gatherings from a couple months ago. We had a really great time doing what we do best last night... and I think it showed on our amazingly sweet couple's faces! Weddings can get hectic, and it sometimes amazes me the difference having the DIY team by your side makes to keep your event progressing smoothly; we were right on schedule all afternoon and night! We even had a couple of chances to take selfies and to get a pic with Blaine and Jessica during the reception. Congrats, you two! Thanks for letting us be a part of your big day, it was truly our pleasure!

Pro-tip: when planning a festive gathering (kids birthday, casual party, holiday bash, the list is endless!), for an extra fun and money saving measure, mix and match one set of the character/patterned (let's face it, more expensive per unit!) paper goods with one or two packages of coordinating solid colored ones. It's a playful way to stretch your party planning budget! Just make sure the plates, napkins, etc. are similar sizes. Happy partying!

We felt so lucky to have the opportunity to help this amazing couple have a beautiful party to celebrate the union of their families. Our team arrived at Reynold's Lodge at 7:30am (30 mins early, wouldn't you know it?!?) to begin the transformation. We were too eager to begin and didn't take any before pictures of the space. We quickly realized it would be quite the task to fit close to 200 people in this building and still be able to breath. But, the weather was so perfect we decided to set up the band outside with some extra tables to allow their guests to soak up some sun. The bride's father, Carlos Serrano, created a beautiful cake, which due to a small timing snafu with the florist, Nik got to assist him with cutting and placing the flowers. Ramen Bowls from Lawrence, Kansas, a favorite of the couple, provided some world class Ramen and appetizers (This was not your typical Maruchan or Top Ramen, think succulent chicken, fresh ingredients, and perfectly seasoned broth). After dinner, the bridal party lent us a hand and we did a small room flip to create the dancefloor while the guests stepped outside to enjoy the band and watch the children play in the beautiful greenspace overlooking Lake Shawnee. After dinner, the festivities really kicked off with DJ Lyric as post the traditional bouquet and garter tosses, first dance, and dollar dance, everyone hit the dancefloor, including us! We had the best time with the Serrano and the Nioce families and their friends and can't wait to help your family and friends have THE BEST DAY EVER, TOO!
