Traditionally, the engagement ring was the only jewellery decision a bride made. Everything else was borrowed, rented or inherited.

That has changed. The tennis necklace is now the second piece, and the Australian fine jewellery brand SARAH & SEBASTIAN offers two very different takes on it.

The Urchin Lace Necklace sets 150 natural white diamonds in 18 karat gold, alternating 3mm and 2mm stones so the line catches light unevenly, lace-like in appearance and capturing an aura of femininity. The Suspense Necklace, by contrast, tension sets each diamond in a gradient rather than a fixed line, so the necklace shapes to the body instead of sitting on it.

Neither reads as traditional bridal and both are designed to outlive the wedding. Forget the expectation and remember what feels authentically you is the only brief worth following.
