What a wild week over here, in the best way! We’ve made wreaths, centerpieces, charcuterie boards, and spent time with companies like Mall City Mechanical, Merrill Lynch and Kalamazoo County Ready 4s. We’ve also gotten to hang out at some of our favorite spots like Kalamazoo Country Club and Lee & Birch… we have truly made our rounds this week!

We love all the festive fun and creative energy the holidays bring. BUT, if you’re an event-based business like us, you also know it’s hard to celebrate your own people this time of year.

So here’s your little reminder: when things slow down, the snow gets deep, and the calendar clears out, January and February are honestly some of the BEST times to plan something fun, creative, and connective with your people. Family, friends, your team — everyone’s craving something to look forward to in the winter lull.

If you want to plan a workshop or creative experience for the new year, we’d love to help. Even when it’s not wreath season, we can still bring fresh floral centerpieces, charcuterie, patch bars, or a little “reset” workshop to help you visualize what you’re wanting for the year ahead.

Before I head to bed, I just wanted to say a quick thank you after this small-business-filled weekend. Supporting Do Something Co directly supports my family. This business is my full-time job, and our home runs on two full-time working parents. So every event you show up to, every ticket you buy, every workshop you share with your friends and coworkers, it all matters in a really real way.

It’s changed the way I think about supporting small businesses, and it’s something I’m trying to teach my kids too, that every single dollar spent at a small business is noticed, felt, and appreciated in a way a big box store could never compare to. It doesn’t mean you can’t shop both, it means you consider the options and keep some of your spending purposefully local.

I know today always comes with a flood of posts, and sometimes it can make your eyes glaze over as you scroll. But I love it because there’s something really powerful about pausing to recognize the things we’re grateful for.

For a lot of people this time of year can feel like the opposite of joyful. It can shine a light on the things we’re missing, the things we’ve lost, or the things that aren’t quite right. It takes a conscious effort to shift your perspective and say, mmk, what do I have right here that’s worth being thankful for? I bet it’s a lot.

I am grateful for so much.
My family. My people. My customers and clients turned friends. The opportunities that have come my way. The support that keeps me going. All of it.

Wishing you gratitude, hope, love, and peace today, wherever you are and however this season feels for you.

We’re doing it again! Our cozy, luxurious Out of Office retreat is back, this time on Friday, February 20 to Saturday, February 21, 2026 (10 a.m. to 10 a.m.).

Our last retreat sold out in just a couple of hours, and after all the amazing feedback, we’re so excited to bring it back this winter, when there’s nothing else going on and we can fully enjoy the cozy fireplaces, slow pace, and all the pampering.
