For as long as Ive known about National Donut Day I have wanted to do a photo session with donuts.
But did you know:
National Donut Day is a U.S. celebration held each year on the first Friday of June, created in 1938 by The Salvation Army to honor the Donut Lassies—women volunteers who served donuts to American soldiers on the front lines during World War I.

It began both as a fundraiser during the Great Depression and as a tribute to the volunteers who boosted troop morale with fresh donuts made in makeshift huts near the front lines. Today, the holiday continues as a mix of charitable tradition and sweet celebration, with many donut shops offering free treats and communities recognizing veterans and service members.

🕰️ Let’s talk about photo storage.

I can’t promise that I’ll have your photos forever but I will definitely try to keep them safe.

Here’s a few tips to have keepsake portraits in your family:

Have prints made.
- Give a copy to a family member that you know keeps albums of photos. Especially the person who keeps a library of printed portraits.
- give copies of prints to more friends and family members 😊
- have books printed. These make great keepsakes. Have two or three copies made at the same time and again give one to someone that loves keeping photos in the family

Save the digital files on your own memory cards or thumb drives.
- I give the option from every session for clients to purchase the digital files. Select download all and a zip file will be emailed to you. Email that zip file to a few family members (let them know)
And save the zip file to a couple different locations.
- don’t count on digital clouds to save your portraits. Technology changes so fast and it’s difficult to download all your photos when your favorite “cloud” decides to make a change.

I am always excited to hear about engagements and weddings! I’m double excited when I get to photograph them! And I’m even more excited when it’s family! ❤️❤️❤️ Lora and AJ are meant for each other. Their love for each other shows through! Bonus that they both love being outdoors! Here are some peeks at their engagement session in St. Charles MI

After looking at my calendar I can fit 4 more portrait sessions in my calendar in June -

To all the women building businesses with heart: your story deserves to be seen.

🌿✨ There’s something powerful about a woman who chooses to become who she was meant to be — and then helps others do the same. - pictured here is Cristal Lorraine Klein
This outdoor branding session was created to capture the heart behind her work: grounded confidence, intentional growth, and the freedom that comes from building a business aligned with purpose. 🤍
From quiet moments in nature to strong, visionary portraits, every image reflects the energy she brings as a coach and entrepreneur — authentic, empowering, and deeply inspiring.
Brand photography isn’t just about headshots. It’s about telling the story of who you are, what you stand for, and the impact you’re here to make. ✨
Again - To all the women building businesses with heart: your story deserves to be seen. I’d love to hear more about your business and create a photosession for you 🌻

Scanned in close to 200 kodak colored slides from around 1950 from a family member's collection, I was so excited to see some from the Holland MI tulip fest.
