I want to sincerely apologize for my oversight in the previous iteration of this post in which I quoted a favorite line from a favorite musical ("To being an us for once, instead of a them"). My intention was to celebrate the empowering spirit of uniting and celebrating LGBTQ folx and allies, not to condemn or alienate folx who use they/them pronouns. That is the exact opposite of what I intended to do, and I won't make light of it.
I am first and foremost an ally and Communication scholar, and I can't believe I missed that possible perception. I am grateful to the person who called it out. THIS is allyship. We can all be better, myself included.
On a brighter note, IT'S PRIDE MONTH Y'ALL! I hope to see you at Alley Cat on the 16th for Musicals Mania Trivia as we raise money for OutFront Kalamazoo!
