“But how was the food?” It’s always a highlight of each event at Papa Kona! Here’s what Shelby and Kyle served their guests: Passed pupus consisting of bruschetta bites, shrimp cocktail and chicken yakitori skewers, followed by our Signature Buffet. They chose from our many options, the strawberry spinach salad, green beans with macadamia nuts, taro and sweet potato au gratin, brown butter glazed carrots, kalua pork, New York strip, and fresh catch fish in a lemon herb cream sauce. Are you hungry yet? For dessert, they skipped the traditional wedding cake and cut a large cheesecake while serving mini cheesecakes flavored with guava, lilikoi and traditional New York style 🤤

We’ve been getting a lot of questions about our ceremony options, so here is an example of a wedding for 63 guests by the sea! Our ceremony location is private and right on the water. We include a ceremony sound system complete with lapel microphones so that your guests can hear you over the ocean. 🌊

Would you like to incorporate Hawaiian elements in your ceremony? One of our favorites is the blowing of the Pū to start the wedding ceremony. Blowing the Pū announces an arrival or calls attention to a significant event. Have you heard it before? It gives chicken skin every time 😚

Our Story

Papa Kona Events & Catering can help you plan events at our Kailua-Kona Waterfront Row venue, as well as offer full service catering for events off-site at businesses and private homes. Papa Kona in Kailua-Kona is two floors, and on the first floor is our restaurant, bar and cafe. The second floor is the event space, with our full bar, open air conference room (dance floor!) and dining lanai perched over Kailua Bay. We try to make event planning stress-free by offering an Event Package that includes the tables, chairs, linens, glassware, flatware, china, set up and clean up. In addition, we also provide full catering services from passed appetizers (pupus!) through dinner, coffee service, specialty desserts, wedding cakes and dessert displays.
