We are so excited! See the list below to help donate to these future pit masters!

Here we go! Many have asked for it, and now here we are! Jourdanton HS Culinary students have applied and been selected to be part of JHS's first High School BBQ Team. We are super excited to start this program and teach students the passion, pride and skill that comes from competitive bbq. We need a little help to get started. We will need supplies so that we can begin learning from local pitmasters and get ready to compete in December. If you can and would like donate an item or two off the list, please contact [email protected] with what you are willing to donate. We will also take monetary donations starting next week. We hope to grow this program and appreciate your support of these kids in our first year. Stay tuned for more great things from Arrowhead BBQ!

Well just like I thought, Misty Yarbrough and I should have stayed In the AC this weekend, whewwww it was hot, thankfully there was a nice breeze today. As the smoke cleared, we ended the day with 2nd place Dessert, 5th place Beans, 5th Place Chicken, 7th Place Rib( wasn’t happy at all with this rib. Almost decided to not turn it in) and a 3rd place Brisket. Those walks allowed us to get 18 points and 4th overall!! Congrats to Little Johns BBQ on your GC and nice ice chest. Congrats to all of our other friends who made the walk today.

Man I don’t know what I was thinking when we signed up to cook this weekend, it’s gonna be a hot one!!! Misty Yarbrough is up first tonight with Dessert and beans tomorrow morning before we get to the meats. We will be at the Atascosa County Show Barn for the Pleasanton Young Farmers Cookoff, stop by and say Hello.

Whewww it was a hot one today at the chili Bandera covid restart of the 2nd annual Cookoff!!! Well after all the turn ins, we left it all for the judges to battle it out. When it came time for awards we were able to snag a seat in the shade and wait to see how it all shook out. We ended up with 4th Chicken, 3rd Ribs, 1st place Brisket, 1st place Beans by Misty and we finally got a buckle for Grand Champion of the 2020/2021 Chili Bandera 2nd Annual Cookoff!!!

This past weekend we were asked to help out for a benefit and we couldn’t say no to one of our extended family members. After the smoke cleared, we cooked up 12 briskets and sold out of plates and bagged sandwiches in less than two hours. We hope everyone enjoyed the brisket, as always we can cater your event if we are not already booked. I have to thank Loren Gillespie and Brandy Yarbrough for stopping by to help slice up the briskets. Thank y’all.
