OUR STORY

Established in 1950, 1ST SUMMIT ARENA @ Cambria County War Memorial has served as the premiere sports, recreation, and entertainment venue for the Greater Johnstown Area / Cambria Region and remains a staple in the local community. We serve as a living institution to honor America’s Veterans, with relics and stories lining our walls and Veteran’s Museum.

Whether being the home of Slap Shot, having some of the greatest minor league hockey players grace our ice with the Johnstown Jets, defining the blue collar era of the early ECHL with the Johnstown Chiefs, or hosting one of the NAHL’s best attended franchise with the Johnstown Tomahwks, 1ST SUMMIT ARENA @ Cambria County War Memorial has a special place in hockey history.

1ST SUMMIT ARENA capitalized on its rich hockey heritage in 2015, being crowned the first Kraft Hockeyville USA, propelling the arena back in the national spotlight.

On August 29, 2017, 1ST SUMMIT BANK formed a 10-year partnership with the Cambria County War Memorial that not only secured the naming rights of the historic venue, but established a commitment from 1ST SUMMIT BANK to America’s veterans and youth hockey. This partnership has helped to ensure 1ST SUMMIT ARENA @ Cambria County War Memorial will continue to stand the test of time.
