Just Imagine. Prior to that, the estate, originally owned by Joshua Francis Fisher, was purchased by Lessing J. Grunsfeld.

Abington Art Center, located in Jenkintown, 20 minutes by rail from the heart of Philadelphia was established in 1939 as the Old York Road Art Guild. In 1965, the Guild's separate elements were brought together as the non-profit entity Abington Art Center, which has resided in Alverthorpe Manor since it was donated to Abington Township in 1969. Rosenwald, son of Julius Rosenwald, the part-owner an

d CEO of Sears, Roebuck and Company. In 1939, he razed the old house to build the current art-deco-inspired, 52-room mansion designed by Ernest A. The Art Center’s Studio School wing of this unique building once housed Rosenwald's enormous collection of over 2,600 rare books and 24,000 prints, drawings, and manuscripts, which was donated to the Library of Congress and the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. Our rich history provides inspiration for AAC's mission to further arts and culture.

🐥 The Class? Animation for ages 9-12.

Has your child wanted to learn to animate? In this new class your child will learn to create stop-motion animation using the free app - Stop Motion Studio! Using their own device, students will learn the principles of animation by making several short animations as well as their own characters, stories, and a final short film.

🌟 Open Call for Art: 10×10 To-Go 🌟

Unlike a conventional exhibition, 10×10 to-go acts as a pop-up shop, with an emphasis on selling smaller, moderately-priced work to those visiting our center. 10×10 to-go grants artists the opportunity to not only make artwork sales in a gallery-setting, but also showcase a breadth of work.

Artists are invited to submit 10 works of art in any medium with the size limitation of 10×10 inches, inclusive of frame, and no more than 3 inches in depth. Works must be available for sale with the price not exceeding $250.

📅 Exhibition will take place throughout the holiday season during the Astra Lumina light show from November 6, 2025 – January 5, 2026.

📍Deadline to Apply: October 12.

🌟 Our Producer and Series Programmer – Joe Montone ! 🌟

Ever since Joe joined our team to produce our Summer Concerts, he makes magic happen. We are incredibly lucky to have him!

✨ Joe Montone is a Concert & Experience Producer, Musician, and Community Advocate from Doylestown, PA. He has collaborated with unique venues and regional + nationally recognized artists for over 15 years. As Founder of Stage United, his focus is to create platforms for communities to flourish through the power of live music.

“The mission of Stage United is to inspire communities by not only creating greater access to unique live concerts like these,” says Joe Montone, “but to also demonstrate the power of collaboration. This series is presented by and for our backyard — it takes all of us to make this happen.”

💕 We loved collaborating with Joe on our summer soundtrack of togetherness for the fourth year in row and we cannot wait to work with him next year!

Join us at Abington Art Center and discover the joy of block printing in this hands-on class where you’ll learn how to design, carve, and print your own blocks.

We’ll cover the fundamentals of relief printing, starting on paper and then diving into fabric—creating repeat patterns and bold designs perfect for printing on second-hand finds or your own favorite apparel, bandanas, patches, and more.

This class is a chance to slow down, experiment, and enjoy the creative process! Beginner-friendly but also great for those with some block printing experience looking to expand their skills.
