We are so proud that the Jefferson community has brought back this wonderful tradition!
This is what Memorial Day is truly about. Not the cookouts, the lake trips, or the long weekend but neighbors, families, veterans, first responders, and entire communities coming together to honor the men and women who gave everything for this country.
Across Pennsylvania, from the streets of Philadelphia to Pittsburgh, from the smallest boroughs and coal towns to the Capitol in Harrisburg, people line the sidewalks carrying flags, folding chairs, memories, and gratitude. For a few moments, politics, stress, and everyday life are put aside as we remember those who never made it home.
Memorial Day parades are more than tradition here. They are a reminder of sacrifice, unity, and the deep respect Pennsylvanians continue to have for those who served and gave their lives protecting others. You see generations standing side by side. Grandparents, parents, kids waving flags and catching candy, all connected by the simple understanding that freedom came at a cost.
No matter where you are in Pennsylvania, there’s something powerful about hearing the sirens, the marching bands, the motorcycles, and seeing Main Streets filled with red, white, and blue. It reminds us that even in a changing world, some things still bring people together.
Today, we remember. 🇺🇸
