Good morning, friends~ 🧡
We wish to inform you of significant developments concerning the future of The Flower Barn. We are currently in a transitional phase, preparing for the next chapter of our operations.
As part of our strategic downsizing, we are offering a selection of items for which we no longer have a use on a "make an offer" basis. Additionally, all giftware is presently discounted by 30%. While the closure of our physical storefront is a bittersweet decision, it is a necessary measure in response to the current economic challenges impacting the floral industry, particularly the rising costs associated with fuel and tariffs. We have been actively relocating our inventory to a new workshop facility, which will operate from my residence.
Although a traditional storefront will no longer be available, we will be offering deliveries and pre-ordered item pickups at our workshop by appointment.
Assuming the responsibilities previously shared with Katie presents a considerable undertaking. I am committed to addressing any challenges that may arise during this transition. We deeply appreciate your continued support and understanding.
Our final day of operation at 160 Main St. in Jay will be May 27th. Subsequent to this date, access will be by chance, as we anticipate a period of uncertainty regarding the relocation of our refrigeration units and other essential equipment.
This transition, while emotionally complex, is essential. I will require a dedicated period for relocation and setup at the new facility, with the invaluable assistance of friends and family. Consequently, we will be temporarily closed for several weeks to facilitate this significant move. Our projected reopening date is June 16th; however, we request your patience as the exact timeline for this extensive relocation remains fluid.
The Flower Barn was established by my mother, with my father's support, in May 1980, operating from the barn of our family home on Vine Street in Livermore Falls. In 2026, we are effectively "returning to our roots." I extend my heartfelt appreciation to my mother.
Change can be daunting, yet the prospect of regret can be far more profound. I am dedicated to maintaining our commitment to excellence and continuing to serve our esteemed community. I value each of you.
Over the years, we have cultivated numerous cherished friendships. We also remember those we have lost, who remain in our memories and hearts.
I have reached a point where, despite the inherent uncertainties of the future, a decisive step forward is imperative. The time for this evolution is now.
To Katie, I express my deep affection. My primary desire is for your happiness. You have dedicated your heart and soul to this business and our loyal customers for an extended period. I recognize that this decision is not without difficulty for you, and I offer my understanding. I will endeavor to honor your and my parents' legacy.
The new workshop will be located on "the farm" on Moose Hill in Livermore Falls. The phone number will still be 207-897-5226 as well as our website (for now) www.theflowerbarnflorist.com
My profound gratitude goes to my handyman, my fiancé, and my steadfast supporter, for your unwavering efforts in ensuring the continued success of The Flower Barn. This endeavor would not be possible without your contributions.
I extend my appreciation and love to all of you and encourage you to visit us before our Main Street location closes.
With Much Love, today and always.
Sarah
