Today we honor Juneteenth, the day that news of emancipation finally reached enslaved Black Americans in Texas in 1865. It’s a reminder that freedom in this country has been delayed, fought for, and defended by generations of Black Americans.

In aviation, one of the clearest examples of that courage is the story of the Tuskegee Airmen—Black pilots and ground crews who overcame discrimination and segregation to serve with extraordinary distinction in World War II. Their legacy continues to inspire new generations to rise above barriers in aviation, military service, and everyday life.

Later this year, our community will have the chance to experience that story up close through the RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit and a visiting Red Tail aircraft, which share the history and lessons of the Tuskegee Airmen in an immersive way. Our goal is to create space for learning, reflection, and inspiration—not just for one day, but all year long. CAF Red Tail Squadron
