While we are super, super sad we think these folks are totally rad for making this choice. Know it was a difficult one but it feels like the right one. So many times in life we want to do something even knowing it could cause hardships. Splitting the community between Tipper and Kinnection would be heartbreaking for so many of us and could cause long term issues for both events. Being responible means choosing when those hardships might hurt your future more than the immediate pleasure of the experience warrents. Love seeing a festival make this choice to grow into the future instead of letting the desire to "make it happen" overrule sound judgement. So much respect
KINNECTION CAMPOUT 2017 UPDATE:
Over the past five years, we have been beyond grateful to see the support for this event grow from a small campout among friends into a multifaceted regional gathering where so many talented creators come to share their gifts. From the very beginning, the goal of the Campout has been to grow community. Thanks to the efforts of so many dedicated souls nurturing the seed of this gathering, our roots are deep, our trunk is strong, and our branches extend further than we ever dreamed. Thank you for making this community all that it is.
With that being said, Kinnection Campout is taking a year off in 2017 due to scheduling circumstances. While both Kinnection Campout and Tipper & Friends could theoretically happen on the same weekend, we know that many people (staff and patrons alike) would be forced into the tough position of choosing between the two events, and it is our strong desire to prevent the community from having to choose and thus being split apart. Tipper has been a pioneer in the scene, and will continue to be so. Since we had not yet signed a contract with the venue for 2017, we investigated the availability of several other dates. However, Deerfields was already booked up during those potential weekends and unavailable to us this year. Since it looks like Tipper and Friends is here to stay, we look forward to coordinating with them in the future so we can schedule the next Kinnection Campout during a date that will provide super fertile topsoil in which the gathering can thrive in 2018 and well into the future.
Big thanks to all of you who have communicated your support for Kinnection Campout over the past few months. Take the next year to enjoy the fruits of the experiences and connections we have created together. Share the bounty with those you love and plant your own seeds of change in the world. We look forward to gathering with you all again in 2018, when we will add the next ring of growth to our village tree. In the meantime, we ask you to keep Kinnection Campout in your heart, sharpen your skills, expand your dreams, and help us keep the momentum of what we have created alive!
