Who are the members of The Adderbury Ensemble?

Martyn Jackson
British violinist Martyn Jackson was born in 1988 and has performed as a solo artist and chamber musician throughout the UK, much of Europe and the Middle East. Previous seasons have included performances of the Mendelssohn, Stravinsky and Tchaikovsky Concertos and a European tour with cellist Henri Demarquette encompassing venues such as the Philharmonie and Konzerthaus in Berlin and Les Invalides in Paris. Forthcoming engagements include the Brahms, Elgar, Prokofiev, Sibelius and Tchaikovsky Concertos. Martyn made his recital debut at the Southbank Centre’s Purcell Room last autumn, as part of the Philharmonia Orchestra Martin Musical Scholarship Fund Prize Winners’ Recital Scheme. He was also invited to perform with principal players from the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra in Milan and Rome.
Martyn is a selected artist on the Countess of Munster Recital Scheme 2013 and is a Concordia Foundation Artist. As an orchestral musician, Martyn has frequently served as Assistant Concertmaster of the LSO, Philharmonia Orchestra and BBC SSO. Martyn currently studies at the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” Berlin with Professor Stephan Picard and is a graduate of the Royal College of Music, London where he studied with Professor Itzhak Rashkovsky. He performs on a Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume kindly on loan to him from Frau Angela Schmeink.

Jenny Sacha
Jenny Sacha (2nd violin) began learning the violin at the age of nine with her grandfather. Four years later she gained a place at the Junior Department of the Royal Academy of Music and later went on to become a principal player of the National Youth Orchestra. Jenny graduated from the Royal Academy in 2003 obtaining a First Class Honours degree and a Postgraduate diploma. During her studies in London with soloist Maurice Hasson, she was given the opportunity to learn with Michelle Auclair at the New England Conservatory, Boston U.S.A. She led the N.E.C Chamber Orchestra in Boston and in London took principal positions in many of the Academy orchestras. Jenny has enjoyed playing for session orchestras around London and recording for Travis, Divine Comedy and Pavarotti. She has also performed in large scale concerts such as the Concert For Diana at Wembley Stadium and the Queen’s Jubilee Pop Concert at Buckingham Palace.

Chris Windass has spent much of his life based in Oxfordshire and formed the Adderbury Ensemble in 1986.
He also established the Music in Adderbury series and the famous Oxford Coffee Concert Series in the same year.
He studied at the Birmingham School of Music where he formed part of the first ever quartet in residence at the college.
After Birmingham Chris went on to study privately with Emmanuel Hurwitz and David Takeno.
His professional playing career has covered working with a wide range of ensembles from large scale symphony orchestras, chamber orchestras and Opera Companies including The London Philharmonic Orchestra,The Philharmonia, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra, London Chamber Orchestra, Glyndebourne and English Touring Opera, down to Chamber groups including Medici String Quartet, Brodsky String Quartet, Carducci String Quartet, Tippett String Quartet Guildhall Strings.
He His love of chamber music has always been a driving force in his teaching and playing.
He also organises the Adderbury Ensemble which gives many concerts in the UK and Europe as a chamber group and chamber orchestra.
Chris is head of strings at Bloxham and Stowe School.

Jane Fenton was principal Cellist/founder member of the Guildhall Strings, making their name when they won the International Jeunesses Musicales Competition in Belgrade - 1982.
They made their Carnegie Hall debut in 1991 on their first tour of the USA. They recorded for RCA records, regularly broadcast for the BBC and appeared in all the major international Music Festivals.
She was Principal Cellist with Glyndebourne Touring Opera for 18 years and continues to be Principal Cellist with Garsington Opera.
Jane has been a Guest artist with many established chamber music groups including;
The Composers Ensemble, The Balanescu Quartet, The Emporer Quartet and The Allegri Quartet. She is also a regular performer in the Chamber Music series "Oxford Coffee Concerts" at the Holywell, Oxford.
Jane has freelanced with The Chamber Orchestra of Europe, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Britten Sinfonia and The Scottish Chamber Orchestra.
She has been guest Principal Cello for The London Chamber Orchestra, The Scottish Ensemble, The Mozart festival Orchestra and Ballet Rombert.
Jane's work has a broad spectrum and has included;
Chamber music coach for Pro Corda Young Musicians Summer Course, England 1984 and 2000
Workshop/Chamber Music course in Segovia, Spain 1996
Coach and Teacher for the Orchestra Joven, Cadiz, Spain since its creation
Session fixer for Mike McEvoy (Producer and Composer)
Sessions for the "Harry Potter film" 2000
Jazz Improvisation and World Music projects @ Dartington International Summer school 1984 - 1994
Working with "Madonna" 1998

We would like to encourage you to go out and support one of Jacksonville's hidden gems, the First Coast Wind Symphony, on Sunday December 12 at 5:00 PM. The concert will be held in St. Johns Cathedral. This ensemble is over 30 years old and is entirely volunteers. Support local musicians!

We are pleased to welcome our newest Event Manager at Friday Musicale... Christine Parker. She is an FSCJ student majoring in Supply Chain Logistics. She has experience with events as a florist for PRI Productions.

Christina is excited to learn about event management and looks forward to planning special events with us like the Sister Cities Concert, Harvest Fest, and the Annual Holiday Concert.

Today we celebrate Gustav Mahler’s Birthday. Born July 7th, 1860. Died May 18th, 1911. Gustav Mahler was an Austro-Bohemian Romantic composer, and one of the leading conductors of his generation. As a composer he acted as a bridge between the 19th century Austro-German tradition and the modernism of the early 20th century.

Friday Musicale welcomes our newest adoptee - Bridges of Harmony Chorus, the Jacksonville Chapter of Sweet Adelines International.

Bridges of Harmony Chorus is a diverse group of passionate female singers committed to vocal excellence. Their mission is to share with all women love of the a capella barbershop singing style, musical education, friendships, performance in Sweet Adelines competitions, and community service.

Bridges of Harmony will be performing in our 132nd season. We look forward to sharing their concert repertoire with our audience in Fall of 2021 and Spring of 2022. Stay tuned!

Introducing our new Venue Director, Dr. Jonathan M. Lacey.Jonathan received his Ph.D. in Music from Florida State University, with Master's and Bachelor's in Music from Valdosta State University. A Native of Albany, GA, Jonathan and his wife Scarlett now live in St. Mary's GA. They are proud parents of 18 month old Nathan.

Jonathan shares: "I am excited about the opportunity to be part of an organization that brings joy to the community in the form of music education and the arts". Jonathan approaches the role of Venue Director to "look beyond the now to see what could be".
