The past few weeks have been full of days in the garden and also a lot of trying to be patient with my body. Transitioning from growing flowers for profit to growing flowers for me is an interesting thing. I am finding myself looking at flowers like "Oh shoot you should have been cut already....oh wait I get to just enjoy you now." The garden is filling out and I am feeling appreciative and happy. Now, the goal is to create something beautiful and balanced - lots of variety, natives, herbs, edible things for bees and bugs and birds and me. I am thankful for the style of regenerative gardening that I was already doing because it made the transition really simple. Here's a little look at today.
Things I am focusing on this summer:
+Soil health - fermented w**d tea for vitamins and minerals, compost tea for healthy microbes, alternating foods for my roses specifically to really get them to grow and fill in.
+Diversity - planting different things together to encourage natural balance and food chain. Herbs and flowers and foods together. Perennials and annuals.
+Making a bee paradise - I have always been bee friendly, but I want my yard to be a paradise for bees and other pollinators. I feel like I am well on my way here. I think I have had close to 10 swarms in the past month.
