The past few weeks have been full of days in the garden and also a lot of trying to be patient with my body. Transitioning from growing flowers for profit to growing flowers for me is an interesting thing. I am finding myself looking at flowers like "Oh shoot you should have been cut already....oh wait I get to just enjoy you now." The garden is filling out and I am feeling appreciative and happy. Now, the goal is to create something beautiful and balanced - lots of variety, natives, herbs, edible things for bees and bugs and birds and me. I am thankful for the style of regenerative gardening that I was already doing because it made the transition really simple. Here's a little look at today.

Things I am focusing on this summer:
+Soil health - fermented w**d tea for vitamins and minerals, compost tea for healthy microbes, alternating foods for my roses specifically to really get them to grow and fill in.
+Diversity - planting different things together to encourage natural balance and food chain. Herbs and flowers and foods together. Perennials and annuals.
+Making a bee paradise - I have always been bee friendly, but I want my yard to be a paradise for bees and other pollinators. I feel like I am well on my way here. I think I have had close to 10 swarms in the past month.

If you are working hard to rebuild the soil in your garden beds, something that is often overlooked is mineral deficiency. We focus on nitrogen, microbes, organic matter, etc., but did you know that, just like our bodies, your plants require balanced minerals for growth? The best way to replenish these minerals (and also FREE!) is w**d tea. Use w**ds like dandelions, dock, plantain, and chicory. Make sure to get the roots and the greens. Submerge completely in a 5 gallon bucket of water, cover with a lid, and your tea is ready in two weeks! It will smell AWFUL, so heads up. This stuff is potent - one 5 gallon bucket is all you will need for the entire summer. Dilute in water (not an exact science - I add around a cup to 3 gallons of water. You only need to add a little to make a big difference.

Yeah, I am posting on my first day off.

But question! I know myself well enough to know that this page won't die just because I don't sell flowers anymore. I love writing and sharing about plants and gardening and bees. I love teaching and sharing my knowledge. So my question is:

What would you like to see here going forward?
Gardening tips? Videos? Pretty flower pictures? House/garden progress? General thoughts and ramblings? Let me know in the comments!

Bittersweet feelings today as I just marked my store Permanently closed on Google. Really, I am happy and relieved. The irony that I received my first negative review today. I am amused. From selling cut flowers in the front yard to markets to our downtown shop and then operating out of our home, it has been such a journey. Thank you everyone for your love and support over the past 6 years.

If you talked to me over the winter, I am sure I overshared about my rose propagation project. Whenever I bought roses from fall through winter, I gave it a shot and ended up with far more success than I expected! This is the first one to bloom, and what a satisfying feeling. I am sure I will share lots more as they continue to bloom. The process was really pretty simple as long as you have patience and pay attention.
